CALL FOR ARTISTS - (posted April, 2008)
Busted Barrel Art, Wine and Music Fest
- August 16, 17 10 am-6 pm.
Three Brothers Winery, 623 Lerch Rd., Geneva.

Three Brothers Winery and Estates is a newly-opened winery on the northeast end of Seneca Lake. With four wineries and a brew pub on the estate, we have plenty of reasons to hold a very large festival! It has been the owner's dream to be able to showcase high-end artwork at his winery ever since he began his ambitious endeavor of opening 4 wineries and a brewery within 100 yards of one another! With the unfortunate loss of the Seneca Lake Whale Watch we thought - "Hey, why let a fabulous weekend die?"

This is the first year for the Busted Barrel Fest and we are pushing for 150-200 high-end artisans to showcase their work for the weekend and we have the perfect facility to do so! With a 2500 sq. ft. covered veranda, a 3500 sq. ft. heated and cooled event center, a 3000 sq. ft. covered wrap-around deck and plenty of space for tents we are excited to offer this opportunity! Along with shopping high-end art, patrons will be able to enjoy wine tasting, beer tasting, and live music all day!

Deadline for artists - May 9th.

More info and forms available at www.genevarts.com or www.3brotherswinery.com.

July 31... Call for Artists
The Lucas Gallery
is researching viability of another fine art gallery in the Skaneateles market. The goal is to transform the second block of Jordan Street into a small fine art district within the village. The area already has a good base with the Lucas Gallery, The John Francis McCarthy Gallery, the new Skaneateles Artisans on Fennel Street, The Paris Flea, The Longlake Framing and Interiors Gallery, Snake Oil Glassworks, White & White Antiques & Interiors, Westlake Conservators, and a number of other related businesses promoting original fine art. Potential consumers include tourists, local interior professionals, local collectors, and interior architects. The gallery would be open on Friday nights and all day Saturdays and Sundays for the first 6 months. Hours would be augmented after that time if volume required.

The purpose of this query is to secure enough artists to ensure the gallery will be fully stocked and supported at a high standard. It is necessary to secure the commitment of 20 artists. In total, we need ten artists on board for the first six-month period and a remaining ten to fill the pipeline. If we can get commitment from 20 artists by the end of August, we will move forward to secure the space and start the business machine. The gallery would be open for business by November 1st 2007! This is not a co-op and Lucas Gallery will oversee management for the Danube Gallery. Although discussion is encouraged, all management decisions will be made by the owners.

Who, what is eligible? All artists -- local or not -- are encouraged to apply. If you are not local, arrangements would need to be made to cover the gallery for one day per month (see below). If you are not an artist but have a collection you would like to market and sell, you are also very welcome to apply.

Work should be original paintings, collages, sculpture, or jewelry. Other media will also be considered on a case-by-case basis. Wall hanging art should be in oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastel, collage, or mixed media. Sculpture can be any medium but will need to fit in the gallery. Outdoor sculpture will be considered. Jewelry should be unique in nature, artistic, and of exceptional quality and materials. All pieces brought into the gallery under contract will be insured. All final decisions concerning acceptance is the sole function of Lucas Gallery.

The gallery will provide:
.
Venue in upscale highly visible market
. Quarterly reception (total four per year)
. Public Web Site portfolio
. Marketing and promotion
. Press releases and copy writing
. 24 feet (3 X 8) of wall space and 3 square feet of floor space (84 cubic feet) with halogen lighting
. Networking opportunities

In return we ask from you:
.
Six month lease agreement at $175 per month
. One day of coverage of the gallery per month
. One month security deposit
. High resolution digital images of all work
. 10% of sales

We hope you would like to join us for the fun: Kevin Lucas, 33 Jordan Street, Skaneateles 13152, (315) 278-3057 or (315) 291-3116, Kevin@lucasgalleryonline.com
